Item Name: Hikarinomu
Description: In appearance, Hikarinomu is a katana, of average weight and size. It is well balanced, and otherwise a finally crafted blade, except for the colour. The blade is pure black, almost as if light refuses to touch it, like it is a black spot in existence. The reason is the blade has been treated through ancient techniques to repel all chakra. Any chakra based technique will simply slide off the blade, refusing to touch it directly. This means it is an almost unmatched tool in beating chakra defenses, and to a lesser extent, defending against attacks. However, it comes at a price. The user, once the blade is drawn, must constantly feed the blade blood, either from their palm, or through cutting a foe. If blood is not given to the blade, the colour will fade, and it will lose its powers, until a ritual is performed and blood as reapplied. When in its scabbard, this effect is negated, but the blade will obviously be unable to cut. If used in a fight while in the scabbard, the blade will try to steal blood from the wielder. The ritual is a trivial affair, but takes at least five minutes. The other major side effect is the user is almost entirely unable to wield ninjutsu. The effect disrupts the chakra formation in the body, and leaves them unable to wield ninjutsu. It will also drain them quite heavily of chakra, along with anyone the blade is thrust through, though the effect is negligible unless left inside them for a while. Only someone of great physical prowess can wield the blade for any amount of time. (Minimum Stamina needed to wield: 10)
The blade is a forbidden artifact of the samurai, crafted by an ancient swordsmith to fight against the ninjutsu of shinobi. However, the ritual used in its creation, involving mass human sacrifice to craft the steel, was deemed too horrific, and the creator was killed. The blade was used in many battles with shinobi, but the users invariably died from overuse. The blade, greedy for blood, seemed to kill its wielders, though indirectly. The samurai locked it away, forbidding its use, and hiding all mention how to create it. It served only as a story to remind the samurai of their path, and why they must remain neutral in the shinobi wars. There it remains in a vault beneath a samurai temple. A master of the samurai kenjutsu is left to run this temple and watch over it, to ensure it is never taken up in battle again. The temple also serves as a school for samurai.
I wanted to make this sword the basis around a character I am creating, and so at least affordable for an A-rank nukennin. This guy will have next to no skill in anything other than sword play, leaving this sword his tool to level the playing field. I'll leave it up to you, though.
