Despite being 17 with such skill and such a high body count, Motokai is mature. He rarely accepts speaks unless needed. Like most of his clan, he is very prone to murderous outbursts. Unlike most of his clan, however, he is very adept at controlling them. He believes in the power of knowledge and strategy over barbaric attacks.
He is a calm and quiet individual who dedicates himself to whatever mission was at hand. As a child, he was more gentle despite his natural talent for combat and unique abilities which made him the strongest of his clan, as seen from him not wanting to hurt others he had no involvement with, and his interest in trees. He also appears to be very respectful towards powerful ninja.
Motakai differs from most nukennin in two ways: The first having a sense of honour in battle. Another difference is that he rarely showed any emotion other than surprise or extreme anger and bloodlust, except in moments relating to his ideals.

Motakai is characterised by his pale skin, vivid green eyes, masculine facial features, two scarlet dots on his forehead which all the members of his clan possessed, and shoulder-length white hair, which he wears divided down the middle on his head (distinguished by an atypical 'zigzag' hair parting) with two separate partings on either side of his face. He wears black pants cut off around mid-calf, bandages wrapped around his ankles, and traditional shinobi sandals. He also wears two red, tube-like hair ornaments; one on either side of his head, securing two locks of his silvery-white hair.

This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, or even another person within reach the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack. Exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise. Basically all ninja know this technique.

This technique creates intangible copies of the user. The clones are simply illusions and will dissipate when they come into contact with something. The illusions can be seen through by the Byakugan and the Sharingan. A person with normal eyes can also distinguish the clones from the original, since the clones will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement (won't kick up dust, crush grass, etc.).

This jutsu allows the user to transform either themselves or another object into the appearance of another person, animal, or object. The transformation technique is considered to be among the more difficult E-ranked techniques, since it requires constant emission of chakra while mentally maintaining the form. On top of that, the user would be, most likely, interacting with the environment. This puts much mental strain on an inexperienced ninja.The transformation would be dispelled when the user is injured or hit.

The user performs this jutsu by modifying the humerus (upper arm bone) of either their right or left arm to create a short, hilt-less bone sword. Since they can increase and compress the density of his bones, they can make the sword harder than steel. They then uses the sword to fight. This style uses quick cuts and thrusts to disable opponents quickly.

The user uses this jutsu to create a mass of razor-sharp bone spikes all over their body. These spines appear to be branches off their pre-existing skeletal structure rather than completely new bones. The user is even able to grow these bones at an extremely rapid rate so they can stab an opponent even as they are growing. They can even use them to block or trap an opponent's strikes. In addition to being an unwelcome surprise for opponents, it makes them basically untouchable at close range. If an opponent would start to get close to them, they can start to spin rapidly slashing the foe in multiple areas of their body.

To perform this dance, the user grows several long bone blades from their body for use as weapons. Though they would primarily use two blades grown from the palms of their hands, they are able to make use of several secondary bones grown from their elbows, knees, and shoulders. This dance form is incredibly acrobatic, using spins, charges, and long sweeping slashes to make the strikes more effective and to evade opponents' counter strikes. The user can also extend his bones to attack his opponents without having to adjust their own movement.

Using their kekkei genkai, the user can modify and pull out their own spinal column to use as a flexible chain staff, regrowing a new spine to replace the removed one. The protrusions on the vertebrae are modified to make them stronger and sharper.

This is usually used as a follow-up to the Tessenka no Mai: Tsuru. The user's entire forearm is encased in a giant drill made of bone to attack the trapped victim. The bone is strengthened (through compression and its plaited spiral shape) to become the hardest type of bone the body can produce. The bone resembles a flower, hence the name.

The Kaguya bloodline's final dance (presumably the strongest as a last resort), this jutsu causes a giant forest of bone spikes to burst from the ground. The user is able to emerge from any bone at will, giving them a deadly element of surprise should the opponent be able to avoid the attack.
