It was early in the afternoon, the sun still high in the sky in Sabakugakure no Sato. The streets, except where there were shade, were almost empty, due to people staying inside, in the safety of their cool homes. They were not hiding from enemies, or rabid dogs or the like, but from the sun's simple heat. It was absolutely scorching.
Akimichi Choumon, who had been on a clan related errand, had been caught right in the sun's light, and had decided, upon seeing a nearby restaurant, that he would stay there for a while, until the sun had fallen enough on the sky to not burn his skin by a mere touch.
Walking inside, he asked for a single table, though due to many people having the same idea as he, he was placed at a table for two, the opposing chair looking awfully empty, as he sat there, filling up his seat at least twice. Akimichi Choumon was a big man, in body and spirit. It was not that he was fat, though he did have some extra kilograms sitting on his bones, but that he was simply that – big. Tall and wide, he looked like a giant compared to the rest of the restaurant. Behind his back, some of the waiters voiced their concern that the chair would not hold...
Meanwhile, the man looked through the menu, realizing how hungry he actually was...

Choumon was not the only one seeking refuge from the sun. Senju Yuko, having come to the conclusion that staying in the heat was a bad idea, and creating a pool in the middle of the street was marginally worse, had also found her way inside the restaurant.
She meandered her way through the tables, stopping here and there to allow someone to pass. It seems like she has nowhere to be, but she still has some purpose in her movements. She gazes lazily around the room, seeking out a seat that is free.
Before she knows it, she is stood by Choumon, and the empty seat opposite him. She stares for a moment, mulling over her thoughts before asking, "Is this chair perhaps free?".

Still trying to decide on a single dish (rather than the whole menu), Akimichi Choumon had gotten nowhere, but then again, he was not exactly in a hurry. After a while, however, he placed the menu on the table, took a deep breath, and released a sigh from his mouth. He could not decide on a single menu item. Not even the three dish menu seemed able to fill him up.
Suddenly, however, he was brought out of his trail of thoughts, as a woman, wearing a beautiful green kimono, came up to him and asked if the seat opposite of him was taken. Taken aback, the man stuttered a simple: “N-no, not … not at all!” He then looked around the restaurant, and it did seem this was the only seat left, or maybe there was two or three others, but they were all by bigger tables.

Yuko thinks for a moment longer, glancing around her, before pulling out the chair and taking a seat, finally coming to a decision. She sighs, and replies, "I was glad to see a free space. It seems I was not alone in escaping the heat."
Glancing around once more, she attempts to track down another menu. "Were you given that at the entrance? I don't think the staff noticed me."

The woman seemed to be looking for something as she sat down across the table, before finally asking about the menu on the table in front fo the Akimichi. Nodding, the man picked it up and handed it to the woman with the words: “Here, I can't seem to find anything that would fill me up.” He then proceeded to release a hearty laugh.
Sitting back, the man looked the woman over once more. She was certainly beautiful, that much was for sure. Looking around, he wondered if they were maybe father and daughter – or maybe they even thought they were at a date! The large man, though up in his years, could not fully contain the red colour that invaded his cheeks. Luckily, it was not that visible on his face, due to his full grown beard and slightly dark, tanned skin.
“So, uh …,” he tried, struggling to find words, as he scratched his neck with an oversized hand. Eventually though, he stretched it out to the woman with the words: “Akimichi Choumon. I recently moved here with my clan. And you are?” His voice was warm and kind, almost fatherly.

"Thank you." Accepting the menu gratefully, Yuko scans every item once, twice, three times. She is evidently dead set on beating Choumon in the race for who can take the longest at deciding what to order, and she is not flagging yet. Her ability to not make a quick choice was practically legend, and would be told throughout the land for generations to come. Needless to say, she declined to order anything at that moment.
Still reading the menu, she replies, her face lighting up. "Ah, a fellow immigrant! We are also recent transplants to this community. I must say, while the people are lovely, the heat is something I could do without." Her eyes focused on the menu, she has no idea that Choumon is blushing, so in that regard he is safe. "I am sure it is something one would grow used to in time. Though I might have to lose some of my hair..." She looks up, staring into the distance, lost in thought for a moment.

“Ah, I see,” Choumon said with a nod, as the woman said that she too had recently moved here. “Yes, the heat here is not something to underestimate.” Then it hit him, the only clan who had recently moved here besides his, and the obvious Uzumaki clan, was the Senju. Looking at the woman, who was now staring into space, with a mix of surprise and awe, he opened his mouth.
“So, you're … Senju?” he asked. The Senju were known to be amazing ninja, capable of manipulating the very nature. He was honoured to meet one of such a grand clan. As he waited for the woman to reply, he asked a passing waiter for a second menu.

Yuko, shaken from her thoughts by mention of her name, returns her gaze back to Choumon. "Ah, yes. I am indeed." She tilts her head at him, thinking for a moment. "Senju Yuko. My apologies, it seems my manners fled me for a moment. I would blame the heat were it not my fault entirely." Tactfully handled Yuko. Your mother would be proud.
She peered at the menu once more, trying to decide on an item. As Choumon flags down a waiter, she asks for a tea in the mean time. "So what brought your clan to this land? My family has ancient ties with the Uzumaki, it simply made sense to request their hospitality for a time." She hears a groan from his chair, and wonders whether it would be rude to subtly reinforce it. Most likely yes, but if it would avoid a scene... She ponders on it some more.

“Manners, smanners!” Choumon laughed. Event hough his clan was known as a noble one, he had never been a man of manners, not that he had none, he just preferred when things were natural and direct. That way, misunderstandings were easier to avoid. As he was brought a second menu, he listened to the woman's question, to which he gave a nod and the following answer:
“Well, the simple explanation is that we agreed with what the Kazekage is trying to do. We had actually tried to make peace with the other clans for quite a few years, but it was not until I met with Shomei that an alliance was made,” he explained with his arms crossed. His chair gave a croak, but held on for dear life. “I have deep respect for the Kazekage. He's a great man.”

Yuko smiles, still reading the menu "Well, I shall endeavor to ensure they are up to par in the future." Because not looking at the person you are talking to is the height of manners, evidently. Something of a decision of what to order was forming in her head, but she still deliberated, making sure it was the RIGHT decision.
She nods. "While some in my clan are... shall we say, prone to upholding their ideals forcefully, I hold to that violence is never a solution, only a further problem. A necessity, in rare cases, but we have brought ourselves above such pettiness." Her tea arrives, which she accepts with a thanks. Taking a sip, she continues, "Not to say that I am incapable of defending myself. I find when an opponent cannot move, they are more partial to a peaceful solution."

“Violence only breeds more violence, that's what I believe,” Choumon said with several nods, as he sat there, arms crossed, and his eyes closed. He then chuckled at the woman's comment on how immovable opponents were easier to make agreement with. “That's the truth.”
Just then, the chair gave up. With a loud croak, followed by an even loader snap., the four legs of the chair all broke into pieces, as the large man fell to the floor, much to the horror of nearby guests.
“Damnit! Who makes chairs that can't hold a real man?!” Choumon roared, as a waiter came over to help him up, though he was brushed off, and the Akimich got up himself. He then pulled out his wallet and handed the waiter several ryo. “Here, for the chair. And get one that can hold this time!” He then looked to the woman. “Anyway, I guess this is my cue to leave, I can't seem to find anything on the menu after all. It was nice meeting you, miss, may our paths soon cross again.”
With that, the Akimichi left the restaurant, hoping it had gotten a least slightly cooler outside...
