After informing his people of the move, Kami sat in his room, packing up his items. He had recently informed his clansmates that they would relocate to Taiyougakure, as ninja of the Village Hidden in the Sun. He sat, inserting things into boxes, when he picked up the picture his father had given him of the two. He was smiling at the picture when the back fell off and caused a note to fall on the ground. "What's this?" said. Picking it up, he saw it was a note, from his mother to his father.

Tsuitachi. That was her name.
Kami had never actually met his mother, but when his father sparing spoke of her, he only said "She was the most beautiful girl I've ever met, and infinitely braver and stronger than I could hope to be." Kami felt surprised. He had never learned about his mother, what happened to her?
The letter opened up "Ryun, I am still on the mission. We are nearing the end of our food supply, and the Senju are closing in on our camp. Even if we fought back, we'd be incredibly outmatched. So I am afraid this is the last letter I can write you..."

The letter continued.
"I wish I had never accepted this mission. I wish I could be there with you and Seireitou. I can imagine him now, asking you for food, saying his first words, learning the fireball jut-" this part of the text was unreadable. It appeared to be smudged by tears. Before Kami could continue reading, he heard a knock at the door. "Come in!" he said. When the door was opened, he saw a 6 year old. "Kami-san, could you please help me with my fireball jutsu?" the child said. Kami laughed, "Once we get settled in Taiyougakure, I'll make it my priority." he said with a smile. The child yelled "Thank you!" while shutting his door and running down the hall.

When he knew he was clear, Kami continued reading.
"I don't have much more time. I can see the flames rising near me. I love you Ryun. I'm sorry this happened. I can't say anything else. Again, I love you."
Kami sat for a moment but didn't feel content. He had never known much about his mother until now, and this was it? How could his father never tell him about her? Why would she accept such a mission? Kami was nearing the point of rage when he noticed something else on the ground; a picture of his late mother.

She was with his father and his father was much younger than the man he knew. She was a fair-skinned woman with long, black hair with bangs hanging on either side of her face to roughly frame her cheeks and black eyes. She was beautiful. She stood in front of a brown background with a child in her hands and Ryun next to her. They were smiling, which was strange considering Ryun NEVER smiled. But... the three of them, despite Kami's crying, looked happy. At this point, he heard tears dripping on the photo and noticed he was crying. However, shortly after, he felt his sharingan activate and a strong surge of chakra rush to his eye. His sharingan abilities were extremely heightened, better than ever in fact. He quickly covered his eye and rushed to a mirror. When he removed his hand, he saw that the three tomoe of his normal eye were no more, and in it's place, a shuriken shaped sharingan with a circle in the centre and a black outline. "Could this be... no. No way!" he said, running to the Uchiha tablet.

Reading over the tablet with his three tomoe sharingan, he read "...the Mangekyo Sharingan, the heavenly eyes that see the truth of all of creation without obstruction. The Mangekyo Sharingan is awakened through the trauma experienced from the death of a person very close to the Sharingan user. It is distinguished from a normal Sharingan by its appearance, which changes the form of the tomoe seal. Those directly descended from the leading families can unlock the Straight Tomoe variation, which means they will always unlock Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, and have increased fluidity in movements."
"Amaterasu?" Kami thought to himself. However, when he thought this, his sharingan changed and became Mangekyo as blood dripped from his eyes. "What the hell?" he thoughts as black flames appeared on the stone tablet.

He jumped away, but couldn't do anything about the flames. He read that the flames couldn't be extinguished, but would die out after a week. Leaving the room, he informed the nearby Uchiha that there was a fire in the room and not to let anyone in for a while, to which they nodded.
He made his way back to his room and finished packing his stuff, trying to contain the excitement of his new abilities. He decided against informing the masses yet, but promised to do it when he reached Taiyou. He still had much more to learn about his new eyes, especially how to control them. Another task for another day, I suppose.
