Yuko sighed, and continued to trudge her way towards her destination, the Yamamoto clan village. Word had been sent ahead of her arrival, so she was not worried about her sudden appearance impacting the mission, but it was taking a long time to travel there. Longer than she had first thought. The sun was beating down on her all the while, and despite the reward, she was becoming increasingly more regretful for taking on the mission. No matter. Perhaps she could form a small oasis, and take a break... Or a tree, for shade...
As she was trying to make a decision as to whether to stop or not, she came over a final incline, and within sight of the village. Which was a good thing, as she was just about to stop and take a nap. Evidently it was the wrong decision, and she would have to factor that into her future decision making process... She realised she'd stopped to think, and she carried on moving. If she was lucky, she might even make it without stopping to think again.

Finally making her way to the village, she presented herself to the guards. "Greetings. I am Senju Yuko, I sent word of my arrival, and I wish for audience with your clan leader." Instructed to wait while they the veracity of her information was confirmed, she leaned on her bo. This was unusual for the Yamamoto, who were usually more inclined towards manners and hospitality for guests. The guard sent off to check returns, and she was escorted to see the clan leader.
As she walked through the village, she saw a great many people going about their day, some training, some socialising. A few recognised the symbol of her clan on her back, and paid respectful greetings. She made sure to stop with each and exchange pleasantries. No need to cause a diplomatic incident by accident. Despite the delays, it was not long before she was taken into a larger building, and asked to wait while the leader was informed of her presence. This time, she was allowed to sit, and offered tea. As is custom, she accepted it gratefully, though only pretended to take a sip. While not a paranoid person, something felt a little off, and it would do good to excersise caution until she could work out where the ground lay.

It was no long before Yuko was retrieved, and brought before the clan leader. She made sure to bow, and said, "Greetings from Sabakugakure. My lord sends me in his stead, and I bring with me his hopes that you and your clan are doing well." Pleasantries are exchanged, as is custom, which of course takes up a good chunk of conversation. I'm sure no one wishes to read 15 minutes of small talk.
Eventually, he topic is changed to the mater at hand. Yamamoto asks, "I am sure you are not here simply to exchange pleasantries, however. May I be so rude as to inquire as to the purpose of your visit?" Yuko replies, "Of course. As I'm sure you are aware, Sabakugakure has been expanding its population. Yet we still find that there is a missing element in our village. Kaze no kuni has always felt the comforting hand of the Yamamoto, and as such a well respected and vital element of this land, it is a shame to not have you in our fair village. Our village praises non violence, and given your propensity towards the same ideals, we thought it would be best to pool our efforts. To cut to the chase, as it were, we extend the hand of friendship, and ask for you to join us in our village."

He stops to think for a moment. "You have to understand that this is a lot to take in. It would require moving my entire clan, along with the risks associated with that. While I can see the virtue of pooling our efforts, and I cannot say the thought has not been entertained, how can I know it is the best decision?"
"I understand your trepidation, but there was a reason I was sent. My clan recently made the move to Sabakugure, and while the move was hardly ideal, the benefits have already made themselves apparent. No less, the village assisted with the move, and I am sure we can provide the same for you."

He sighs. "Well, I will need to consult with my family on this. Please allow us to entertain you while a decision is reached." Yuko nods. "Of course. Take all the time you need." She takes another bow, allowing herself to be led out. It was certainly a good opening in the deliberations, and she wondered why this could not be done through messages. As soon as they were clear of the building, she excused herself for a moment to visit the bathroom.
Once out of sight, she forms the necessary hand seals, and creates a wood clone. "Investigate the village, something doesn't seem right about this situation." The clone nods, and hides itself, leaving as soon as the coast is clear. Yuko returns to her escort, and follows them to their destination, where she continues to make small talk and enjoys herself for an hour.

After an acceptable period of time, she excuses herself once more, to confer with her clone in the bathroom. After making sure she is not being watched, the clone makes its presence known. "I could not find anything in the village itself, but I eavesdropped on the meeting. It would appear that they are aware of a coup, and are concerned that bringing in their family politics would do them damage in the long run if they were to join up with Sabakagure." Yuko nods, and accepts the clone back within herself. The knowledge checks out. An interesting turn of events. She leaves the bathroom, and awaits her call back to the clan leader.
Being brought back before him, after a short period of good hospitality, once more greetings are made. "I trust you had enough time to deliberate?" She asks. "Yes, we did. Unfortunately, we do not feel that at this time, it would be right for either party if we were to accept your proposal. We might find at a later date it would be more beneficial, but please, do not hold it against us..." Yuko raises her hand. Time for a gambit. "I am afraid I have not been entirely truthful with you. We are aware of the... extenuating circumstances that have affected your decision, and I was not sent solely as a good will messenger." He bows his head. "It had indeed crossed my mind. The leader of a clan so renowned as your own? Very well. What is it you have been sent to do?" "My mission remains the same. To deliver our message and to do my best in ensuring you join our village." She smiles. "I feel that stopping a power struggle that might affect this would constitute following my mission. With my assistance, we can peacefully resolve this, even if violence is attempted."

Yamamoto smiles. "Very well. If that is indeed your stance, and if your renown is as they say, then I do believe we can cut off the head of this plot here and now." He stands. "I will gather my guards. We shall depart soon." Preparations made, they set off to another building in the village. Yamamoto tells her, "This is my brothers compound. He has been jealous of my appointment as clan head, as he is the eldest. My father, however, appointed me when it was clear my brother was not of the same peaceful nature as I. He seems to have gathered others to his cause, and our intelligence pointed towards an attack in the near future. I do not expect he anticipated your arrival."
They enter the compound, guards flanking them. It is not long before they are stopped by the compounds guards. "Halt! Sir, you know you cannot storm in here, this is my lords private property...!" Yamamoto replies, "You should know well your lord conspires against me. I have come to settle this peacefully." Laughter can be heard from the main building. "Then you chose poorly, my dear brother!" A man steps out onto a balcony, looking strikingly similar to the clan head. "A small change in plans, it would seem, but one that benefits me greatly. How kind of you to step into the heart of my power." "Brother, it does not have to be this way! Please, listen to reason!" "Reason? Reason vanished when the eldest child was denied his blood right! The only recourse for me now is to take blood as my payment! Guards!" Moments later, they are surrounded by the compound guards. "Take them. If they struggle, kill them!"

Both sides spring into action, the guards of both sides clashing. However, the compound guards have the homefield advantage, and thus superior numbers, and its clear the fight is in their favour. Yamamoto waves Yuko forwards. "Go! I must help my men! If you restrain my brother, perhaps he can be reasoned with!" Yuko nods, and races ahead towards the building. Crashing through the door, she stops to evaluate her options. She didn't have much time, but she didn't know where he was. He was clearly up above, as he was seen on the balcony... She makes her way through the rooms, looking for a stairwell.
Suddenly, a door bursts open, and a man crashes into her. "I have you now, brothe- Wait, who are you?" Yuko uses his confusion to kick away and down the hall. Bad form, she thought. Next time send a clone to scout ahead. If he didn't get distracted it could have been messy. "Senju Yuko. I come in peace from Sabakugakure. Will you hear me ou-" She in turn is interrupted, as the man flies at her, flinging a kunai. Just barely fast enough to deflect it, she races through hand seals and thrusts out her arm towards him. Within moments, it bursts into life, wooden branches racing to meet him, snatching him out of the air and slamming him into a wall.

Victory is not yet at hand though. Before his arms are completely restrained, he performs a fire technique, burning away the wood around him and giving him room to escape. At the same time, a plume of smoke fills the hall, leaving Yuko blind to his location. She breaks her arm out of the wood from her technique, and takes a step back. With them both blind, she had a chance to reclaim the initiative. Quickly forming the hand seals, she creates another clone, thankful she reclaimed the chakra from the previous one.
Without a moments rest, she immediately dives underground, leaving her clone the only part of her visible. It pounces forwards through the smoke, and is immediately forced to take cover as a plume of fire fills the hall. In the moment, he strikes once more, forcing her clone against the wall and holding a kunai to its throat. Though she cannot hear what he is saying, she can only imagine how sinister it might be. Still. No time to think about that. She bursts out of the ground behind him, forming hand seals as she goes, and her arm once more races towards him, wood and flowers sprouting from it. With no time to react, he is trapped between her clone and the encroaching wood, quickly enveloped from his neck down. Yuko breaths a sigh of relief, and accepts the clone back inside her.

Dragging the struggling man behind her, Yuko emerges from the building. She holds him above her, supported by the wood, and yells, "Your leader is captured. Continue to fight if you wish, but it will only make things more difficult." Seeing their leader bound, most choose to drop their weapons and surrender, with the few left fighting quickly subdued, albeit with a few more bruises. With the rest of the guards on route, Yuko forms a wooden prison around the attempted coup.
Yamamoto turns to Yuko when she is done. "I cannot thank you enough for your assistance. I only wish we did not have to drag you into this fight that was not yours." Yuko bows her head. "There is nothing to worry about. I would do the same for any of my village." Yamamoto smiles. "Rather presumptuous, are we not? But under the circumstances, I believe I can forgive it. Given the changes over the last few hours, I must request that I revise my previous decision. Please inform your master that we wish to join you in your village." Yuko bows. "It would be my pleasure." Pleasantries are once more exchanged, though truncated give the situation, and she denies their hospitality for the night. She leaves, having been unable to refuse a meal at least, and sets up her camp. The Kage will be very interested to hear her report, she was sure.
