Yuko is eternally serene and collected. Through her meditations with plants, she has come to understand the connection between all things, however faint, and thus, is able to accept all things as inevitable. When given he opportunity, she prefers to reflect on any possible outcomes before making a decision, even in her day to day life. This can give the impression that she is lethargic, or has no clue where she is going, when in fact, she is simply evaluating her options as in depth as possible. However, when pressed for a choice, she can react with startling speed.
In general, she does not condone violence. Though trained in the art of combat, she does not choose to fight until all other options are exhausted. However, when forced into combat, or when someone she cares about is in danger - because although she claims to be at one with nature, she is still subject to human emotions - she fights back with calm, collected ferocity, not stopping until the source of danger is restrained; or if they truly awake her anger, dead.

Also, in case one confronts the enemy at a short distance, the enemy can be locked up inside the dome, setting the situation for a one-on-one fight. This dome can also be collapsed or burnt with the enemy inside to inflict damage. Furthermore, it functions as a easy shelter against the enemy's long-distance attacks, like shuriken and kunai.

A clone that is created by altering the user's own cells with chakra. It has more endurance than the normal Kage Bunshin and doesn't disappear when hit by the enemies' attacks. Moreover, since it has the ability to merge with plants and trees, it is also great for reconnaissance missions. They have the ability to travel far distances from the user and are able to communicate with the original. The clones can be as simple in function as a wooden dummy for use for Kawarimi no Jutsu.
The basic concept of Kage Bunshin no Jutsu also applies to the Moku Bunshin no Jutsu. However, the chakra-composed Kage Bunshin and the cell-based Moku Bunshin are completely distinct techniques. By directly touching the Moku Bunshin with his hand, the user can absorb the information it gathered and changes the shape of the clone. The Moku Bunshin is made up of the user's own cells, transformed into vegetation. Because of this, when it is changed into a seed and taken into the body, it can be used as a "transmission device". This and all other uses make this technique extremely convenient.

The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or having to face gigantic creatures. The technique can also be used on a smaller scale to trap individual foes.

Born to the clan leader, and blessed with the Senju kekkai genkai, great things were expected of Yuko from birth. As he eldest child, responsibility for the clan would likely fall to her, and so she was put to work training from the moment she was able. And as no new children were born to her parents, despite the virility of the clan, the training only grew more intense. There was no room allowed for failure.
Seeking respite from the endless gauntlet, Yuko would often use her training to slip out of the family compound, roaming the forests and learning what she could. She loved the canopy of the trees, the feel of the bark, the rustle of the leaves around her. Still, she had to return, knowing her duty to her family. She was punished, of course, but it did no deter her. There was only so much they could do, at any rate.
It was there, meditating in the forest, extending her chakra around her, that she first felt the stirrings of the connection of all life, and all things. It was at the same time, that her kekkai genkai first manifested. Whether one prompted the other, it was coincidence or fate, it was left unclear, but the effects were resounding. She returned to the compound later on, changed. She accepted her punishment gracefully, recognizing it was a small cost for the gift she was given, and astounded her parents and tutors with her progress.
From then on, the training grew only more intense, her family determined to refine her attitude into one more suited for leadership. Still, she would slip out and wander the forest, learning at her own pace and to her own timetable. It took many months, but her fahter eventually relented. If this was what it took for her to learn, then that would be what it took. He began to bring her out with him, instead of her wandering on her own, and he would teach her something new each time. Whether she would understand, or make i clear that she understood, was another matter entirely, but this proceeded for many years.
Aged 20, her father was called away for a mission. The family were told that he could be gone for many months, and his location could not be disclosed. Her mother, aching for a distraction from her worry, took this as a chance to teach Yuko of he finer points of administration. With the two of them left as defacto family leaders, there was enough chances to learn of politics, diplomacy and leadership. Still, her apparent inability to learn stymied matters.
A year passed, and it became apparent that her father was not returning home. Grief stricken, but still hopeful, her mother took over clan leadership until such a time that Yuko was declared 'ready'. It was hoped this might spur her into training harder, but, as with most things, it did not bother her. She made it her mission to find out her fathers fate, and if possible, return him home. She worked as a Chuunin, and later a Jounin, picking up bits and pieces of knowledge. While her fathers mission was kept secret, knowledge demands freedom, and freedom she provided it.
One day, she announced to her family and the Kage that she would be leaving for some time, and that she would return with what she could find of her father. Before any move could be made to stop her, the wood clone fell apart in front of them. She had left hours before. Though scouts were sent out to find her, some looking to aid her, some to convince her to return, a wood user is a hard target to track down. Weeks later, she returned, carrying only a tattered scrap of cloth and metal. It was her fathers headband, all that she could find of him. His death was mourned, and Yuko came clean about her tale, how she found out where he was, and how she got the headband back. Though it startled everyone who knew her, it was apparent she HAD learned something in the arts of intrigue and diplomacy. Her mother, aging and still in mourning, passed over leadership to Yuko, now considered ready, if not entirely what they had hoped for.
Yuko now leads the clan away from violence, steering them towards a path of togetherness, and a hope for a future where all is truly one.

Yuri, having been forced to lead her clan from their ancestral lands, feels a great sense of guilt and responsibility for them. It may have been the right choice to save them all, but without a home they were vulnerable, and thus, being as it was her decision, she takes full responsibility for their safety. While she may appear a hard and uncaring person, it is only because she is maintaining a strong figurehead for her family.
Those she considers family or friends she will defend to the death if needs be, though it is hard to gain her trust. After being betrayed, outsiders are considered hostile by default, and it takes a great deal to break through that with her. That said, doing something to aid her village, and therefore her family, will do a great deal to endear you towards her. One day, though, she plans to reclaim their lands, by words or by force.
She plans nearly constantly for any eventuality, hence the constant build up for war in her village. Any attack, ploy or scheme she can think of, she logs a counter attack and writes it down. Her quarters are filled to the brim with such scrolls, under an organisational scheme that only she can follow (Or rather, that she knows.).

Once it comes into contact with a target's shadow, the two merge and the target is forced to imitate the user's movements. If the target is out of range, the user can produce a better light source to increase their shadow's size or rely on preexisting shadows for their shadow to freely travel through.
The major downside of the Shadow Imitation is that it is tiring to use repeatedly; If the user is low on chakra, the performance rate of the technique also deteriorates. Insufficient lighting will make the jutsu less effective. A particularly strong opponent can also resist the shadow's forced imitation.

As it is more difficult for the enemy notice it, this ninjutsu also compensates for the weak point of the similar Kagemane no Jutsu, being its limited effective range. Despite it's name, any sort of weapon of chakra conducting material can be used.

The closer the user is to their opponent, the tighter the strangle will become. This technique cannot be used for an extended period of time and weakens with each passing minute. Light is a direct factor in this jutsu. It seems to make the strength of the bind stronger, though has no known effect on the duration of the bind.

A ninjutsu from among the Nara clan's secret techniques that uses materialised shadows to attack and bind, instead of merely immobilizing and controlling like Kagemane no Jutsu. The user changes the shape of their shadow into several sharp needles and controls each separately. They can then attack several targets simultaneously and at the same time snatch away their ability to move by sewing them stuck with the shadow threads. Because it is a physical attack, it is impossible to capture someone without harming them, but on the other hand, since the speed of invocation and the time of duration are excellent, it can be used when urgent restraint is required.
This technique is usually used to go through the target and capture them, but depending on the opponent, it can also be used as an attack to bring them down. This special characteristic finds its greatest effect when used as logistical support. After this technique hits someone, it can then be directly transformed back into Kagemane no Jutsu.

Basically, this technique takes the user's own shadow and transforms and stretches it into countless thin tentacles, which are then used to grab objects and pull them in. Also, one can also skillfully make use of the tentacle-shaped shadow tendrils by using them to lift up and throw weapons like kunai and such. This technique has many possible applications and uses.

Classified as a kinjutsu for the nature of twisting someones emotions potentially permanently, this genjutsu causes the target(s) to see and hear the user as their most loved individual. In most cases, this is a lover or a parent. It also twists their emotions, and nudges them towards that of love and affection. It is almost impossible for the target to attack the user from then, until the genjutsu is broken. All the images come from within the targets mind, and they will find whatever excuse is needed to justify what the user is doing, from jumping around to sitting down and smiling. If the target musters the willpower to strike the user, they are often overcome with guilt and mourning at having struck their family member, even if they are actively aware of the fact it is an illusion. But worse comes from if the user attacks the target. The genjutsu is broken almost immediately, but the feelings of betrayal from the person you most love remains, potentially ruining that relationship forever. This is the most insidious part of the jutsu, and why it is considered forbidden. The technique lasts until broken, or the user attacks the target.

Black shadows rise up to cover everything, and when they fall away, it appears as if their foe has killed whoever was there, when in fact the corpse is merely an illusion, and their 'foe' is really whoever was there. The insidious nature lies in its simplicity. It is a simple image switch, along with a push of their emotions towards fury. The real skill lies in maintaining the illusion even when the third party begins to act out of character, which is where this genjutsu excels. The illusion lasts until broken, or until the target kills one of the believed foes.

Yuri was born in the family ancestral compound, hidden deep within the Nara woods. Having lived there for generations, no one in the family had known a life living outside those woods, though of course many left and returned. It was their home, and their life. She grew up there, learning them like the back of her hand. She learned from her family the secret techniques of the Nara clan there, like all of their family.
As a teen, her parents brought her more into the leadership role. As a family of tacticians and strategists, and notably neutral in most conflicts, they would hire themselves out to help other clans plan and create strategies in their many many wars. It was a profitable enterprise, and it was not unheard of to have members of the Nara clan on either side of a conflict without knowing, both planning against one another. It could be seen as a great game of chess when this would happen, with the other clans members being used as fodder.
This, naturally, led to a few other clans taking affront the the Nara name. Though they stayed out of conflicts, and didn't have any hold in them besides the pay, some didn't see it that way. One clan in particular, who's name has been stricken from records, began to plot against them. They wormed their way into being friends with the Nara over decades, even being granted access to the family woods, which was practically unheard of. All in the name of being able to strike a decisive blow against the family, who were considered untouchable in their home.
It was when Yuri was 20, that the plan kicked off. A massive force, thought to have been heading for another conflict, suddenly changed direction and streamed towards them. Colours were revealed, and it was shown to be their believed friends. Her father led the counter attack, harassing them and misleading them with shadows and genjutsu. But their greatest secret, the compounds location, was lost, and an attack on the home was considered inevitable. Yuri, being left in charge of the defense in her fathers absence, had a tough decision to make. Her father was still out there, fighting valiantly, but the main force reaching them was inevitable. If they left now, the bulk of them would survive, but her father would surely perish.
She chose to evacuate. Secret tunnels were opened, diversions set off, powerful traps and seals placed throughout the compound. It was salting the earth, to be sure, but it was their home, and it would be only theirs. The family fled, and made their way out of the country, just ahead of the force chasing them. But a smaller force moves faster, and they escaped into the mountains. It was there that they made their new home, in a hidden peak. But one day, Yuri swore to lead her family back, to reclaim their home, and her fathers remains. Until then, she claimed position as Kage of Kaminari no Kugi, her reputation as a Nara affording her the right to hold that claim against others. More clans flocked to their banner. And so the planning began.

The term Iaidō (居合道) refers to a specific style of kenjutsu that is concerned with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. The linear motion and force applied to draw the sword from the scabbard results in slashes that are faster and stronger than ones executed with the sword already drawn.

Any techniques caught in the wave are repelled, forced back with the technique, but physical objects are not affected in any way. This technique is exceptionally taxing, and the user cannot use it often in a fight, else the blade will take its claim of the wielder.

They would pour their hijutsu into mastering their swordplay, and were known throughout the lands as skilled warriors in the art of the blade. Every child of the family was taught to wield a sword as soon as they could walk, and to weave seals as soon as they could stand. The way of the samurai, the clan followed, and every clan member was trained for battle and learning from the moment they could.
Hourou, however, was not blessed with the family skills. He could barely channel his chakra into a simple clone, or change his appearance, and when tested for chakra elements, had the misfortune of not even moving the paper. His parents, ashamed, refused to acknowledge their son, leaving him to be taken in by the village for training and guidance completely. He was taken to the clan shrine, to train with the other genin, and maybe one day awaken his skill. The shrine master, a venerable member of the clan, and a once vaunted warrior, took a shine to the young boy who struggled to even maintain the most basic chakra control.
He was not without any skill, though, which was likely what drew the attention of the shrine master. His skill with the blade, even at a young age, was unmatched by his peers, and in straight taijutsu he would annihilate any challengers. Of course, with his skill, and a sense of something to prove, he rapidly became cocky, challenging higher and higher ranked shinobi to duels, and more often than not, winning. However, he was always refused a fight with the master of the shrine, who told him, "The time is not yet for us to cross swords. But it will one day. Soon." That soon forever frustrated him, and drove him to greater lengths of training, even trying to challenge other clans in more outlandish fights. He could not use ninjustsu, but yet he would fight on with his blade, and won honour for his family name. His parents even began to make contact with him, acknowledging him once more as family, but it did not matter to him. He had to duel his master.
It was a quiet night. Hourou awoke despite that, feeling an edge in the air. Something was different, wrong. He stood, taking his blade with him, and slinking through the shadows. A sense of malice filled the shrine, that he had not felt before, in such a place of contemplation and dedication. It unnerved him, but not nearly as much as finding the first body. It bore the tell tale marks of a wind attack. Another clan was attacking them. He moved quickly, down through the shrine, to warn the master of the attack, only to find that he was headed in the direction of the attackers themselves. They were after the masters room, and he emerged to find a slew of bodies from other clans, and his master, alone, fighting a masked foe. The room was a storm of wind and fire, the techniques blending within one another, causing chaos. But he couldn't hold himself back. He was outmatched, but he yelled out a challenge, drew his blade, and threw himself into the fight.
"HOUROU, NO-" A flash of light, a massive impact in his chest, and suddenly silence. He had been hit with something unnaturally strong, but he was alive. He opened his eyes, lying in the ruins of a cabinet. His master stood between him and the foe. The storm had stopped, and blood covered the wall behind him, the cabinet he was lying in, and indeed him himself. His master had been bisected by an attack, one he had thrown himself in front of Hourou to save him from. This would give pause to anyone, to see their master dead before them, and Hourou was no exception. He stood, shakily, grabbing his blade from beside him in the ruins of. His pulse pounded in his ears, like blood was rushing from his head, and for a moment he felt dizzy. He gripped the hilt tighter, and his training flooded back to him. He flicked the blade, unsheathing his sword and passing the scabbard to his other hand. "My name is Kurayoroi Hourou. You killed my master. Prepare to die." He blinked forwards, rage filling his motions, training guiding it well, but he was not quicker than the wind. The foe smiled, and threw out his hand, the storm returning, and rushing right towards him once more. He would be bisected much like his master... No! He swung ahead of him, determined to at least take the bastard with him.
He landed on the other side, back facing his foe. Both stood still for but a moment, that seemed to stretch out for eternity. Hourou knew two things in that instance; 1) He was still alive, despite facing an attack that killed his master, and 2) This was not his blade. It seemed to pulse in his hands, covered in blood, that seemed to sink into the blade as he watched. Revulsion mixed with curiosity. What was this blade, and where did it come from? He hadn't seen it before... At the same moment as he realised all this, the hand of the ninja attacking him slid off his wrist, and he suppressed a scream, falling to the ground, holding it dearly. Hourou was drawn to his senses. He whipped around, ready to deal a finishing blow, but the room filled with smoke, and the ninja escaped. Rage filled him once more, for letting the man escape, then he remembered his master. He dropped to his knees, sheathing the blade beside him, and checked, despite knowing the inevitable. He was dead. And that was when the clan guards arrived. To see him standing over his master with the forbidden blade.
The accusations, inevitable. His honour, destroyed. The escape, heroic. Hourou fled the village, taking on himself the path of Ronin. He had a mission; To find the ninja who killed his master, and return the favour. His families opinion of him was beyond trash now, and it would likely be forever irreparable. But as he says, to those he might pass on a lonely nights travelling, "Honour is in the heart, not in the name."

When given he opportunity, she prefers to reflect on any possible outcomes before making a decision, even in her day to day life. This can give the impression that she is lethargic, or has no clue where she is going, when in fact, she is simply evaluating her options as in depth as possible. However, when pressed for a choice, she can react with startling speed.
In general, she does not condone violence. Though trained in the art of combat, she does not choose to fight until all other options are exhausted. However, when forced into combat, or when someone she cares about is in danger - because although she claims to be at one with nature, she is still subject to human emotions - she fights back with calm, collected ferocity, not stopping until the source of danger is restrained; or if they truly awake her anger, dead.

A clone that is created by altering the user's own cells with chakra. It has more endurance than the normal Kage Bunshin and doesn't disappear when hit by the enemies' attacks. Moreover, since it has the ability to merge with plants and trees, it is also great for reconnaissance missions. They have the ability to travel far distances from the user and are able to communicate with the original. The clones can be as simple in function as a wooden dummy for use for Kawarimi no Jutsu.
The basic concept of Kage Bunshin no Jutsu also applies to the Moku Bunshin no Jutsu. However, the chakra-composed Kage Bunshin and the cell-based Moku Bunshin are completely distinct techniques. By directly touching the Moku Bunshin with his hand, the user can absorb the information it gathered and changes the shape of the clone. The Moku Bunshin is made up of the user's own cells, transformed into vegetation. Because of this, when it is changed into a seed and taken into the body, it can be used as a "transmission device". This and all other uses make this technique extremely convenient.

By changing the surface of an object (ground, ceiling, wall, etc.) beneath an enemy (relative to them) into mud and creating a swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from there. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or having to face gigantic creatures. The technique can also be used on a smaller scale to trap individual foes.

Born to the clan leader, and blessed with the Senju kekkai genkai, great things were expected of Yuko from birth. As he eldest child, responsibility for the clan would likely fall to her, and so she was put to work training from the moment she was able. And as no new children were born to her parents, despite the virility of the clan, the training only grew more intense. There was no room allowed for failure.
Seeking respite from the endless gauntlet, Yuko would often use her training to slip out of the family compound, roaming the forests and learning what she could. She loved the canopy of the trees, the feel of the bark, the rustle of the leaves around her. Still, she had to return, knowing her duty to her family. She was punished, of course, but it did no deter her. There was only so much they could do, at any rate.
It was there, meditating in the forest, extending her chakra around her, that she first felt the stirrings of the connection of all life, and all things. It was at the same time, that her kekkai genkai first manifested. Whether one prompted the other, it was coincidence or fate, it was left unclear, but the effects were resounding. She returned to the compound later on, changed. She accepted her punishment gracefully, recognizing it was a small cost for the gift she was given, and astounded her parents and tutors with her progress.
From then on, the training grew only more intense, her family determined to refine her attitude into one more suited for leadership. Still, she would slip out and wander the forest, learning at her own pace and to her own timetable. It took many months, but her fahter eventually relented. If this was what it took for her to learn, then that would be what it took. He began to bring her out with him, instead of her wandering on her own, and he would teach her something new each time. Whether she would understand, or make i clear that she understood, was another matter entirely, but this proceeded for many years.
Aged 20, her father was called away for a mission. The family were told that he could be gone for many months, and his location could not be disclosed. Her mother, aching for a distraction from her worry, took this as a chance to teach Yuko of he finer points of administration. With the two of them left as defacto family leaders, there was enough chances to learn of politics, diplomacy and leadership. Still, her apparent inability to learn stymied matters.
A year passed, and it became apparent that her father was not returning home. Grief stricken, but still hopeful, her mother took over clan leadership until such a time that Yuko was declared 'ready'. It was hoped this might spur her into training harder, but, as with most things, it did not bother her. She made it her mission to find out her fathers fate, and if possible, return him home. She worked as a Chuunin, and later a Jounin, picking up bits and pieces of knowledge. While her fathers mission was kept secret, knowledge demands freedom, and freedom she provided it.
One day, she announced to her family and the Kage that she would be leaving for some time, and that she would return with what she could find of her father. Before any move could be made to stop her, the wood clone fell apart in front of them. She had left hours before. Though scouts were sent out to find her, some looking to aid her, some to convince her to return, a wood user is a hard target to track down. Weeks later, she returned, carrying only a tattered scrap of cloth and metal. It was her fathers headband, all that she could find of him. His death was mourned, and Yuko came clean about her tale, how she found out where he was, and how she got the headband back. Though it startled everyone who knew her, it was apparent she HAD learned something in the arts of intrigue and diplomacy. Her mother, aging and still in mourning, passed over leadership to Yuko, now considered ready, if not entirely what they had hoped for.
Yuko now leads the clan away from violence, steering them towards a path of togetherness, and a hope for a future where all is truly one.

Yuri, having been forced to lead her clan from their ancestral lands, feels a great sense of guilt and responsibility for them. It may have been the right choice to save them all, but without a home they were vulnerable, and thus, being as it was her decision, she takes full responsibility for their safety. While she may appear a hard and uncaring person, it is only because she is maintaining a strong figurehead for her family.
Those she considers family or friends she will defend to the death if needs be, though it is hard to gain her trust. After being betrayed, outsiders are considered hostile by default, and it takes a great deal to break through that with her. That said, doing something to aid her village, and therefore her family, will do a great deal to endear you towards her. One day, though, she plans to reclaim their lands, by words or by force.
She plans nearly constantly for any eventuality, hence the constant build up for war in her village. Any attack, ploy or scheme she can think of, she logs a counter attack and writes it down. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or having to face gigantic creatures. The technique can also be used on a smaller scale to trap individual foes.

In essence, the opponent can sense, hear and smell out the user of the technique and break its effects by landing one hit.

The Shadow Imitation Technique allows the user to extend their shadow for as far as it has sufficient area. Once it comes into contact with a target's shadow, the two merge and the target is forced to imitate the user's movements. If the target is out of range, the user can produce a better light source to increase their shadow's size or rely on preexisting shadows for their shadow to freely travel through.
The major downside of the Shadow Imitation is that it is tiring to use repeatedly; If the user is low on chakra, the performance rate of the technique also deteriorates. Insufficient lighting will make the jutsu less effective. A particularly strong opponent can also resist the shadow's forced imitation.

As it is more difficult for the enemy notice it, this ninjutsu also compensates for the weak point of the similar Kagemane no Jutsu, being its limited effective range. Despite it's name, any sort of weapon of chakra conducting material can be used.

The closer the user is to their opponent, the tighter the strangle will become. This technique cannot be used for an extended period of time and weakens with each passing minute. Light is a direct factor in this jutsu. It seems to make the strength of the bind stronger, though has no known effect on the duration of the bind.

A ninjutsu from among the Nara clan's secret techniques that uses materialised shadows to attack and bind, instead of merely immobilizing and controlling like Kagemane no Jutsu. The user changes the shape of their shadow into several sharp needles and controls each separately. They can then attack several targets simultaneously and at the same time snatch away their ability to move by sewing them stuck with the shadow threads. Because it is a physical attack, it is impossible to capture someone without harming them, but on the other hand, since the speed of invocation and the time of duration are excellent, it can be used when urgent restraint is required.
This technique is usually used to go through the target and capture them, but depending on the opponent, it can also be used as an attack to bring them down. This special characteristic finds its greatest effect when used as logistical support. After this technique hits someone, it can then be directly transformed back into Kagemane no Jutsu.

Basically, this technique takes the user's own shadow and transforms and stretches it into countless thin tentacles, which are then used to grab objects and pull them in. Also, one can also skillfully make use of the tentacle-shaped shadow tendrils by using them to lift up and throw weapons like kunai and such. This technique has many possible applications and uses.

Classified as a kinjutsu for the nature of twisting someones emotions potentially permanently, this genjutsu causes the target(s) to see and hear the user as their most loved individual. In most cases, this is a lover or a parent. It also twists their emotions, and nudges them towards that of love and affection. It is almost impossible for the target to attack the user from then, until the genjutsu is broken. All the images come from within the targets mind, and they will find whatever excuse is needed to justify what the user is doing, from jumping around to sitting down and smiling. If the target musters the willpower to strike the user, they are often overcome with guilt and mourning at having struck their family member, even if they are actively aware of the fact it is an illusion. But worse comes from if the user attacks the target. The genjutsu is broken almost immediately, but the feelings of betrayal from the person you most love remains, potentially ruining that relationship forever. This is the most insidious part of the jutsu, and why it is considered forbidden. The technique lasts until broken, or the user attacks the target.

Classified as Kinjutsu for good reason, this genjutsu twists the mind of the target(s), making everyone they see appear and sound as their most hated foe. Black shadows rise up to cover everything, and when they fall away, it appears as if their foe has killed whoever was there, when in fact the corpse is merely an illusion, and their 'foe' is really whoever was there. The insidious nature lies in its simplicity. It is a simple image switch, along with a push of their emotions towards fury. The real skill lies in maintaining the illusion even when the third party begins to act out of character, which is where this genjutsu excels. The illusion lasts until broken, or until the target kills one of the believed foes.

Yuri was born in the family ancestral compound, hidden deep within the Nara woods. Having lived there for generations, no one in the family had known a life living outside those woods, though of course many left and returned. It was their home, and their life. She grew up there, learning them like the back of her hand. She learned from her family the secret techniques of the Nara clan there, like all of their family.
As a teen, her parents brought her more into the leadership role. As a family of tacticians and strategists, and notably neutral in most conflicts, they would hire themselves out to help other clans plan and create strategies in their many many wars. It was a profitable enterprise, and it was not unheard of to have members of the Nara clan on either side of a conflict without knowing, both planning against one another. It could be seen as a great game of chess when this would happen, with the other clans members being used as fodder.
This, naturally, led to a few other clans taking affront the the Nara name. Though they stayed out of conflicts, and didn't have any hold in them besides the pay, some didn't see it that way. One clan in particular, who's name has been stricken from records, began to plot against them. They wormed their way into being friends with the Nara over decades, even being granted access to the family woods, which was practically unheard of. All in the name of being able to strike a decisive blow against the family, who were considered untouchable in their home.
It was when Yuri was 20, that the plan kicked off. A massive force, thought to have been heading for another conflict, suddenly changed direction and streamed towards them. Colours were revealed, and it was shown to be their believed friends. Her father led the counter attack, harassing them and misleading them with shadows and genjutsu. But their greatest secret, the compounds location, was lost, and an attack on the home was considered inevitable. Yuri, being left in charge of the defense in her fathers absence, had a tough decision to make. Her father was still out there, fighting valiantly, but the main force reaching them was inevitable. If they left now, the bulk of them would survive, but her father would surely perish.
She chose to evacuate. Secret tunnels were opened, diversions set off, powerful traps and seals placed throughout the compound. It was salting the earth, to be sure, but it was their home, and it would be only theirs. The family fled, and made their way out of the country, just ahead of the force chasing them. But a smaller force moves faster, and they escaped into the mountains. It was there that they made their new home, in a hidden peak. But one day, Yuri swore to lead her family back, to reclaim their home, and her fathers remains. Until then, she claimed position as Kage of Kaminari no Kugi, her reputation as a Nara affording her the right to hold that claim against others. More clans flocked to their banner. And so the planning began.

Hikarinomu
Used as part of a concert of attacks, or on its own, the user flicks Hikarinomu across the defenders jutsu, be it a wall of earth or an armour surrounding them. The attack carves a hole in the technique, letting the user dodge through it, or doing damage to the user underneath if they are wearing the armour.

A technique where one follows the opponent, closely matching their body's movement, just like a leaf that dances in the air is followed by its shadow. The technique begins with a swift upper kick that will launch their target into the air. It is mainly used to position an opponent into a vulnerable aerial position. This move by itself is harmless, but it is usable as a stepping stone for a great many powerful jutsu.

Intended as the final blow of a fight, the user first kicks the target in the air with Konoha Kage Buyou. Once the targer is airborne, the user follows them, delivering a killer blow to them and sending the flying back down into the ground. The target is hit with a powerful blow to the stomach, and also suffers from an immense impact with the ground, most likely leaving them dazed or unconscious.

The users blade is held in the off hand and that arm is held parallel to the ground. When the opponent moves the user mimics the movement. This repeats itself until the opponent steps in. As they do the user throws the hilt of the blade to the other hand while keeping the actual blade itself in relatively the same spot. The other hand then brings the full force of the user across in a horizontal arc. The user also rotates their body adding momentum and cutting power to the technique.

Requirements: Sword, Iaido.
Using the principles of Iaido, the user draws their sword and unleashes a series of attacks so fast the user's movements can hardly, if at all, be seen by the human eye, before sheathing their sword once more, in a single fluid action. This technique can be used to cut down several people all around the user, or to slice a single target to minute pieces.

Intended as the final blow of a fight, the user move with impossible speed past, swinging their blade at the same time. It appears as if they have teleported behind the target. If the attack hits, the target is bisected (Or if the blade is sheathed, dealt a horrific blow to the stomach, likely finishing them off if they were weakened). The move takes a moment to prepare, however, so it requires the target to have been worn down by other attacks first.

The user squeezes the hilt of Hikarinomu, and applies a little chakra to disturb the blade, and then swings it. The blade consumes a great deal of the blood within it, and the chakra repulsive nature of the blade is enhanced for a moment, and a wave of chakra negation is flung through the air in front of the user. Any techniques caught in the wave are repelled, forced back with the technique, but physical objects are not affected in any way. This technique is exceptionally taxing, and the user cannot use it often in a fight, else the blade will take its claim of the wielder.

The user stands their ground, and settles into a defensive stance. Any attacks or jutsu that come their way are deflected in a storm of furious blows, moving faster than the eye can see. Blades are turned aside, fists parried. If a jutsu is launched at the user, it appears to be cut to pieces, the furious bladestorm dicing it into a mist of useless energy. This is the ultimate defence for the Hikarinomu wielder, but it comes at the cost of remaining still, and completely vigilant. The chakra blackspot nature of the blade means that a Sharingan user does not have an advantage against this defence.

Hourou was born into a branch of the family that valued kenjutsu above all else. They would pour their hijutsu into mastering their swordplay, and were known throughout the lands as skilled warriors in the art of the blade. Every child of the family was taught to wield a sword as soon as they could walk, and to weave seals as soon as they could stand. The way of the samurai, the clan followed, and every clan member was trained for battle and learning from the moment they could.
Hourou, however, was not blessed with the family skills. He could barely channel his chakra into a simple clone, or change his appearance, and when tested for chakra elements, had the misfortune of not even moving the paper. His parents, ashamed, refused to acknowledge their son, leaving him to be taken in by the village for training and guidance completely. He was taken to the clan shrine, to train with the other genin, and maybe one day awaken his skill. The shrine master, a venerable member of the clan, and a once vaunted warrior, took a shine to the young boy who struggled to even maintain the most basic chakra control.
He was not without any skill, though, which was likely what drew the attention of the shrine master. His skill with the blade, even at a young age, was unmatched by his peers, and in straight taijutsu he would annihilate any challengers. Of course, with his skill, and a sense of something to prove, he rapidly became cocky, challenging higher and higher ranked shinobi to duels, and more often than not, winning. However, he was always refused a fight with the master of the shrine, who told him, "The time is not yet for us to cross swords. But it will one day. Soon." That soon forever frustrated him, and drove him to greater lengths of training, even trying to challenge other clans in more outlandish fights. He could not use ninjustsu, but yet he would fight on with his blade, and won honour for his family name. His parents even began to make contact with him, acknowledging him once more as family, but it did not matter to him. He had to duel his master.
It was a quiet night. Hourou awoke despite that, feeling an edge in the air. Something was different, wrong. He stood, taking his blade with him, and slinking through the shadows. A sense of malice filled the shrine, that he had not felt before, in such a place of contemplation and dedication. It unnerved him, but not nearly as much as finding the first body. It bore the tell tale marks of a wind attack. Another clan was attacking them. He moved quickly, down through the shrine, to warn the master of the attack, only to find that he was headed in the direction of the attackers themselves. They were after the masters room, and he emerged to find a slew of bodies from other clans, and his master, alone, fighting a masked foe. The room was a storm of wind and fire, the techniques blending within one another, causing chaos. But he couldn't hold himself back. He was outmatched, but he yelled out a challenge, drew his blade, and threw himself into the fight.
"HOUROU, NO-" A flash of light, a massive impact in his chest, and suddenly silence. He had been hit with something unnaturally strong, but he was alive. He opened his eyes, lying in the ruins of a cabinet. His master stood between him and the foe. The storm had stopped, and blood covered the wall behind him, the cabinet he was lying in, and indeed him himself. His master had been bisected by an attack, one he had thrown himself in front of Hourou to save him from. This would give pause to anyone, to see their master dead before them, and Hourou was no exception. He stood, shakily, grabbing his blade from beside him in the ruins of. His pulse pounded in his ears, like blood was rushing from his head, and for a moment he felt dizzy. He gripped the hilt tighter, and his training flooded back to him. He flicked the blade, unsheathing his sword and passing the scabbard to his other hand. "My name is Kurayoroi Hourou. You killed my master. Prepare to die." He blinked forwards, rage filling his motions, training guiding it well, but he was not quicker than the wind. The foe smiled, and threw out his hand, the storm returning, and rushing right towards him once more. He would be bisected much like his master... No! He swung ahead of him, determined to at least take the bastard with him.
He landed on the other side, back facing his foe. Both stood still for but a moment, that seemed to stretch out for eternity. Hourou knew two things in that instance; 1) He was still alive, despite facing an attack that killed his master, and 2) This was not his blade. It seemed to pulse in his hands, covered in blood, that seemed to sink into the blade as he watched. Revulsion mixed with curiosity. What was this blade, and where did it come from? He hadn't seen it before... At the same moment as he realised all this, the hand of the ninja attacking him slid off his wrist, and he suppressed a scream, falling to the ground, holding it dearly. Hourou was drawn to his senses. He whipped around, ready to deal a finishing blow, but the room filled with smoke, and the ninja escaped. Rage filled him once more, for letting the man escape, then he remembered his master. He dropped to his knees, sheathing the blade beside him, and checked, despite knowing the inevitable. He was dead. And that was when the clan guards arrived. To see him standing over his master with the forbidden blade.
The accusations, inevitable. His honour, destroyed. The escape, heroic. Hourou fled the village, taking on himself the path of Ronin. He had a mission; To find the ninja who killed his master, and return the favour. His families opinion of him was beyond trash now, and it would likely be forever irreparable. But as he says, to those he might pass on a lonely nights travelling, "Honour is in the heart, not in the name."
